To rectify this, Arena establishes that both Quake I and Quake II exist in the same universe by incorporating characters and elements from both titles. The first two Quake games had nothing to do with each other at all. That game knew what it wants to be and it did that! It did that insanely well!Įdited by Darky101, 22 February 2018 - 01:21 AM.

I haven't been so hyped since Quake 3 Arena. Yeah it can get kinda boring playing the same meta cheese but the chalenge to be better, to outthink, to outplay your enemy, to make your build and map knowledge work is there.ĭrop, check drop location, get enemy loadout info, predict enemy movement and strategy. You can not get outnumbered! You can only get out played!Īnd I dont mind getting out played, it gets me to think. You have the option to do the same as your enemy. Here it will all be on equal ground, anyone can bring the same build if that is the best!

In all other modes if I get into a fair 1v1 fight i know I made a mistake. Still that variety and new game mode is going to bring alot of new fun, at least for me, untill the best meta is found and tryhards break the game. Lots of types of cheese on the table some taste good, some are. Hmm well like I said its going to be a meta cheese fest! tker669 has it right and OP, gosh, I just can't see how that will work? I can gar-un-tee you there are people figuring out the math on how to do "just that" right now in every weight class. Oy vey ! I wonder how the math of winning a match in 22 seconds with 4 gauss rifle rounds expended is going to pay the bills? And who knows, maybe in the future PGI is able to add FFA afterwards by using the current larger maps.Įdited by Daggett, 21 February 2018 - 08:56 AM. So from this perspective i prefer duels more over FFA. Sure, this probably is just wishful thinking, but at least the potential should be there. So maybe some players will get better in other modes as well when they do Solaris regularly and are forced to change their mindset. No one is there to carry him (at least in 1v1) and he can't hide and wait for others to kill each other like he could in FFA. To be successful in Solaris even the worst potato is forced to think about what he could have made better instead of blaming his loss on other factors. No "my team sucked" like you hear in current modes and no "They always gang up on me" or "My spawn was bad" as you likely have in FFA formats.

Personally in an ideal world i'd want both FFA and duels for variation but since every new queue fragmentizes the player-population i'm fine with PGIs decision to do duels and 2v2 because such small-scale combats have the potential to induce a learning process into some players.Įspecially duels are probably not only the best way to learn how to survive a brawl by correct twisting and timing, they also eliminate most usual excuses. Some people expected a free-for-all instead of 1v1 and 2v2?
